James Loper, 71
James Edward Loper, 71 of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, in SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1940, a son of the late Thomas Loper and Lillian Dickerson Loper.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #471 of Portsmouth, Ohio, also a retired construction worker.
Surviving are five sons, Brian Loper of Clearwater, Fla., James H. “Susie” Loper, Jr., William Boyd Loper and Timothy “Teresa” Loper all of Portsmouth, Ohio, Donald H. “Mary” Loper of Morehead, Ky., one daughter, Carol “Eddie” Ison of Morehead, Ky., one brother Russell Loper of Portsmouth, Ohio, one sister, Geneva Stanley of Lake Station, Ind., 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a grand daughter, Misty Loper and a grandson Jeremy Loper, three brothers, Tom, Carl and Dave Loper, five sisters, Helen Adams, Ruth Evans, Myrtle Anderson, Betty Ratliff and Marie Nichols.
Funeral services 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in South Shore, Ky. with Rev. Timothy Loper and Rev. Jason Blevins officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, South Shore, Ky., with Military graveside services by the James L. Flannery American Legion Post #276 of South Shore, Ky.
Friends may call at the Roberson Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
