Justing Crager scored five touchdowns against South Gallia as the Tartans came away with a 36-28 win in South Gallia to open the season.

The senior finished with 38 carries for 355 yards in an offensive explosion that ranks among the best performances in East football history.

East never trailed in the game but a lone tie came in the second quarter at 6-6. Landon Hutchinson’s 6-yard run in the second tied it when the extra point attempt failed.

Crager only attempted one pass but completed it for nine yards in the contest.

East outgained South Gallia 393 to 207 on the ground and the biggest threat on the ground for South Gallia was Landon Hutchinson with 85 yards followed by Jacob White with 75.

East will host Scioto County rival Northwest next week hoping to avenge the loss that came at the hands of the Mohawks last season. It will be the first of three home games. Following Northwest will be Green and the Raceland (Ky.)
