Oak Hill gets off to hot start under new regime

OAK HILL — Nathan Dugan’s debut as Oak Hill head coach got off to a solid start, as the host Oak Hill Oaks rolled the Chesapeake Panthers 33-7 in Friday night’s season opener.

The Oaks jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead, and answered an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown by Chesapeake’s Javon Thompson two plays later with a Wes Harden 38-yard run to put the game out of reach.

Drew Haislop threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter — a 33-yard strike to Luke Hammond and a 35-yard hookup with Willy Harris on the final play of the first half.

Harden amassed 159 rushing yards on 19 carries, as Devon Davis dialed up 113 yards and two touchdowns on 16 totes.

Davis scored on runs of four and 10 yards.

Haislop completed 4-of-8 passes for 94 yards.
