The whole of the SOC II took part in a preview match at Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe Thursday afternoon.

Wheelerburg came out of the scrum with the top score of 172 while Waverly finished second at 183.

Northwest had a score of 201 good for third while West had a 202 for fourth and Valley had a 223 for fifith. Minford finished the scores with 239.

Mitchel McFarland was the medalist with a score of 36.

Travis Nartker had a 39 for Waverly while Hunter Biggs of Northwest shot a 48. West’s Brady Knittel was the low scorer for West while Valley’s Darby High had a 49 and Minford’s Matt Parker had a 51.

The SOC II teams will reunite for a match Tuesday.

TENNIS

Portsmouth took on county rival Minford on the hard courts Thursday and came away 3-2 winners.

Ali Miller from Portsmouth took down Jamie Justice from Minford 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match while Katie Singer of Minford defeated Alex Scott of Portsmouth 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.

Sarah Raies and Allison Raies of Portsmouth defeated Micaela Liles and Hannah Harris of Minford 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles match while Mazie Lawson and Molly Kammler of Portsmouth beat Emily Joyce and Kristen Lewis of Minford 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 doubles.

Portsmouth moves to 2-2 on the season and will play Valley Monday. Minford’s record was unavailable at press time.
