John Melton, 60

John Thomas Melton, 60, of Wheelersburg, passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born Feb. 4, 1952, in Cumberland, Ky., to the late Lemon Scott and Ida Lee Flemings Scott. John had worked 26 years at the former Dayton-Walther Corporation and had attended the University of Kentucky.

Surviving John is his daughter; Sylvia Darcel Melton of Wheelersburg; his sister; Josie Y. Blackmon of Portsmouth and two granddaughters; Zacayla Bates and Addison Brewer and many nephews and nieces and God-children. He was also preceded in death by his sister; Donnie Hughley

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with the Rev. Clarence Parker officiating with interment following in the Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.
