Retha M. Madrid, 72, of Cheyenne, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, in Cheyenne. She was born May 15, 1940, in Portsmouth, Ohio. Retha grew up in Portsmouth and worked at a local shoe factory. She graduated from East High School in Portsmouth in 1958.

She joined the U.S. Air Force in 1960 and served for two years. In 1965, she moved to Cheyenne in 1965 and attended LCCC where she received her Associate’s Degree in 1975. She then went to work for the State of Wyoming Department of Agriculture in 1974 and retired 30 years later as a financial statistics technician.

Retha enjoyed playing Bingo and taking trips to Las Vegas and Black Hawk where she loved to play blackjack. She also enjoyed spending time in her beautiful yard and took pride in her gorgeous rose bushes. She also enjoyed sewing, needle work, bowling, spending time with family, going to lunch with her daughter and son, and getting manicures.

Retha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Robert Ocheskey (Robert) and Robert’s two daughters Krystal and Nichole, all of Cheyenne; her son, John “J.P.” Patton of Cheyenne; a sister, Ruth Shoemaker of Portsmouth; one brother, George Sisler of Portsmouth; a niece Pamela Hoskins of Dayton and nephews Larry Sisler of Chillicothe; and Bruce Sisler of New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur (Posey) and Oral Sisler; and two brothers, Wesley and Algon “Snow” Sisler.

Memorial services will be Sunday, 2 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with Chaplain David Stratton officiating.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
