Jesse L. Holcom, 89

Jesse L. Holcom, 89, of Haverhill passed away Friday August 10, 2012 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. The Scioto County native was born January 3, 1923 the son of the late Green and Martha Johnson Holcom. He was the husband of Mona Frances Sparks Holcom whom he married October 1963 and survives.

Jesse was a graduate of Beaver High School and retired in 1983 as a Crane Operator for Armco Steel after 37 years of service. He helped start the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department and he was the first Fire Chief there. He was the former owner of J and M Campground and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife he is survived by; a special friend Henry Turner of South Webster and many wonderful neighbors and friends. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday August 13, 2012 at Phillips Funeral Home 1004 South 7th Street Ironton with Elder Jimmy Eubert Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Burial Park.
