Virginia Briggs, 83
Virginia “Jenny” Briggs, 83, of Portsmouth, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at SOMC Hospice.
Jenny was born June 22, 1929, at Portsmouth; the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary Ann Lykins Dunn. She was a member of the James Dickey Post American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul E, “Press” Briggs , three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are two sons Scott Briggs of Portsmouth and John (Jackie) Briggs of La Porte, Texas; four grandchildren Michael (Shonda) Briggs, Jacob Briggs, Christopher Briggs and Hunter Briggs; eight great-grandchildren and a special friend Debra Mershon.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Melcher Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Michael officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Melcher Funeral Home noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
