Bethel Miller, 97

Bethel Miller, 97, of St. Rt. 139 Portsmouth, died Friday, July 6, 2012, in Bradley Bay Health Facility, Bay Village, Ohio.

She was born May 8, 1915, in Olive Hill, Ky., a daughter of the late Joseph and Earlie Parker Flannery.

Bethel was a former employee of the Williams and Selby Shoe Factories and was a sales clerk for JC Penney. She was a member of the Calvary Chapel in Portsmouth.

She is survived by two daughters Carol (Clay) Vice of Rosemount, Marsha (Marvin) Phipps of Dublin; one son Ron (Cheryl) Burgess of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one sister Mickey (John) Vastine of Bay Village, Ohio.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband Virgil Burgess in 1944; and her second husband, Bide Miller in 1961; one daughter Nancy Burgess; one son James Burgess; one brother Arnold Flannery; and two sisters Polly Bayless and Darlene Burt.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Joe Bruch officiating. Burial will follow in Lucasville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before the funeral Thursday.
