A Lewis County, Ky., man is charged with shooting a South Shore man through the back window of his vehicle.

Kody Pollard, 19, of Quincy, Ky., faces one count of assault and three counts of wanton endangerment, after he reportedly shot Eddie Tolle, 22, of South Shore, Ky., Sunday.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred on East Kentucky 10, known as the AA Highway, in the Garrison area. A truck occupied by three people was traveling east when it was flagged down by another vehicle traveling west on the same road.

Tolle said he pulled to the shoulder; the driver of the other vehicle did a u-turn and came to stop behind him. He said Pollard exited his vehicle carrying a shotgun, and told him he was looking for his 16-year-old sister who had been missing. Tolle said Pollard looked in his vehicle and told him the police were coming, then walked back to his truck. Tolle told deputies he decided to flee, and that is when Pollard reportedly fired two rounds from the shotgun into the rear window of his truck.

Tolle fled the scene and received medical treatment at Southern Ohio Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the back. He was treated and released. Pollard was contacted by a deputy and turned himself in to the custody of the deputy.

Deputy Dwayne Stone said Pollard went before a judge for arraignment Tuesday morning, and was released on $20,000 property bond. A preliminary hearing date of July 24, has been set for Pollard.

Stone said the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the role of Tolle and others in the incident, and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the incident.
