Beatrice Collins Clark Clement passed away on May 6, 2012, at the age of 90 in Portsmouth, Ohio, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born Dec. 16, 1921, in Van Lear, Ky., to the late Dewey and Carrie Clark Collins of Garrison, Ky., her family moved to a farm in the McDowell section of Lewis County in 1926.
After graduating from Lewis County High School, Bea worked at Williams Shoe Factory in Portsmouth until she joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1943. In 1944, she married Charlie Clark and they made their home in Granby, Connecticut, for over 40 years. Bea was active in the First Congregational Church in Granby. She loved caring for her family, hosting cookouts, and making Christmas memories. Her hobbies included gardening and flowers, canning food, and golf. Bea enjoyed traveling especially coming home to Kentucky, cruises, and RV trips.
She is survived by her two sisters, Virginia Lewis of Lexington, Ohio, and Vondy Jordan Miller of Mercedes, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Ethel, Ruth, and Shirley Collins; a daughter, Donna Clark of Wheelersburg, Ohio; two sons, Mark Clark and his wife Jane of Greensburg, Pa. and Chuck Clark and his wife Sonia of Lakeland, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Scott Stenhouse and his wife Renae, Andy Stenhouse, Keri Reittinger and her husband Jamie, Grayson Rudd and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Clark Boden and her husband Zachary, Casey Clark, and Angela, Luke, and Aaron Clark; eight great-grandchildren, Allison Rudd, Morgan, William, and Logan Reittinger, Anouk and Garreth Rudd, Michael Stenhouse and his wife Grace, and Brandon Stenhouse; a great-great-grandchild, Oliver Stenhouse; a stepdaughter, Hope Clement Muller and her husband Ernie; a stepson, Bob Clement and his wife Nancy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bea was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Clark Jr. and her second husband, Jesse Clement; three brothers, Ralph, Leroy, and Dewey Jr. Collins; and two children, Sharon Clark Rudd and Richard Clark; and her brothers-in-law, John Miller, James Lewis and Elmer Jordan.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Wheelersburg Baptist Church with Scott Bruns officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SOMC Hospice Center in care of Beatrice Clement, 2201 25th Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662. Arrangements are under the direction of the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg.
