Dumpsters provided by the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District sat behind the New Boston Fire Department Saturday morning as a part of the New Boston Community Cleanup effort.

We’re just going around and people can bring in any old trash that they’ve got and put into the dumpsters and it will help to clean out their basements and yards,” New Boston Mayor Jim Warren said. “And I’m one of them that has to go look and get started myself.”

Warren said, while the cleanup would continue only through 2 p.m. Saturday, there would be another chance for people to bring their trash.

“The dumpsters will be here until Monday morning,” Warren said. “So they can bring it in tomorrow (Sunday) and we’ll be glad to haul their trash away for them.”

New Boston Village Administrator Steve Hamilton arrived on the scene and helped direct people as they unloaded trucks containing everything from mattresses to toys and everything in between.

Several people brought their trash and took the time to thank the New Boston officials for allowing them to clean out their basements, yards, garages, wherever they had items they no longer needed.
