Mother Nature wreaked havoc on the Southern Ohio area once again as several baseball and softball games and a tennis match were cancelled due to additional rounds of heavy rain which worked its way across the area on Thursday.
The Clay Panthers reported a cancellation in its tennis match up with Minford via Twitter as a 4:30 match at Mound Park was postponed for the day. That match is scheduled to be made up on Friday, April 11th.
An SOC II softball matchup was next on the postponement line as a softball contest between Oak Hill at Valley was cancelled for the evening. No makeup date has been announced for that contest. Valley is 1-0 on the season and in SOC II play while Oak Hill is 0-2 on the year and 0-1 in SOC II play.
The Portsmouth-Fairland baseball and softball match ups also were postponed as inclement weather forced the cancellation of that contest on Thursday evening. No makeup date has been set for each of those contests.
Lastly, the Notre Dame-Ironton St. Joseph baseball contest, which was to take place in Ironton, was also postponed for the evening due to inclement weather, according to an e-mail sent out by Titans’ coach Drew Mader. No official date has been set for a make-up; however, Mader mentioned that the Titans and Flyers were working on Saturday as being the official make-up date.
Green and New Boston were set to play River Valley and Rock Hill, respectively at the Rock Hill Wood Bat Tournament. Those games were set to start at 5 and 7 p.m. times but the Daily Times did not receive word of any cancellations as of press time. Green’s softball team was also scheduled to play South Webster at South Webster but there was no word on a cancellation as of press time.
Lastly, New Boston was also set to face off against Notre Dame in a tennis match on the Shawnee State University campus. However, no scores or word of a postponement had been reported as of press time.
