Homestanding Portsmouth weathered the storm both outside and inside presented in the second half by Coal Grove Thursday night to post a 56-52 nonconference win over the Hornets.

The win is the first in the coaching career for Trojans boss Kristen Bradshaw. On a night in which Peighton Williams eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career in the fourth quarter, she led all scorers with 32 points. Jada Jenkins added 18 in the win.

Portsmouth will look to pick up its first SEOAL win Saturday with a road trip to Gallia Academy in an afternoon affair that will be a varsity-only event.
