Life is all about change, nothing ever remains the same. Regardless whether they are cosmic changes or insignificant alterations, we as human beings have a hard time embracing something different.
With the being said, the Daily Times has a minor change to announce — our copy deadline for sports has been altered from 9:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Because of this minor alteration in our deadline schedule, the Daily Times has had to revamp the nightly roundup section. Coaches or scorekeepers are still encouraged to call throughout the evening.
If the score is reported before 8:30, the game statistics will be printed in the next day’s edition. If they are reported after the new deadline, statistics will be appear on the website, www.portsmouth-dailytimes.com, and will also appear in the next available edition.
For example: any calls placed after Monday’s deadline will appear online Monday night and will appear in Wednesday’s edition of the Daily Times.
We are strongly committed to providing the best local coverage to our devoted readers. With that being said, our website is the best source of information for local news and sports coverage.
Even though this deadline change is minor, the change in the industry is apparent, and it’s a major change. We live in a day and age of technology. Information is being broadcast through a variety of different platforms.
The days of sitting on the front porch, drinking a morning cup of coffee, reading the paper and talking to every neighbor that crosses your path is becoming obsolete.
I encourage you to embrace these new media platforms. Visit our website daily; actually, visit it multiple times a day. By embracing these different avenues of information, you will stay concurrent with the latest data possible.
I just wanted to take a moment to inform you of the new deadline change. And regardless of any changes this industry might stow upon us, the Daily Times ultimate goal will be to serve it devoted readers.
