Jackson clerk arrested on drug charges

Jackson County Clerk of Municipal Court, Diana K. Morris, has suspended an employee of the Jackson County court clerk’s office after she was arrested on drug charges. Cassie M. Essman, 29, was taken into custody when a search warrant was executed by the Jackson County Sheriff”s Office, Jackson County Municipal Court Probation Department, the Jackson Police Department and the Jackson County Major Crimes Task Force on Wednesday.

Essman is charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, permitting drug abuse and child endangering.

Jackson County Municipal Court Judge Mark Musick issued a search warrant around midnight Tuesday. Law enforcement agents executed the warrant at 65 Hunt St., in Jackson, taking four people into custody. In addition to Essman, Jason D. Tipton, 33, is charged with trafficking in drugs, permitting drug abuse and child endangering; Lamar F. Collins, 26, of Columbus, faces charges of trafficking in drugs, conveyance into a correctional facility, possession of drugs and child endangering; Benjamin L. Glenn, 28, also of Columbus, is charged with trafficking in drugs and child endangering. Other charges may be presented to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The four were taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
