The body of a man killed in a Sciotoville fire early Thursday has been positively identified. Scioto County Coroner, Dr. Darren Adams told the Daily Times, dental records revealed that the victim was Grover McGuire, 60, who lived at the house where the fire occurred, at 1116 Rose St.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office has filed no report, but remains the lead investigator.
Portsmouth Fire Chief Bill Raison said his crews arrived at the scene around 2 a.m. Thursday, and, along with the New Boston Fire Department, knocked down the fire, which reportedly began in the living room, then discovered the body. Raison and investigator Captain Eric Green, arrived at the scene.
Raison said firefighters maintained the scene for the investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and remained at the scene until 9 a.m.
