A woman has been arrested in a local motel on drug charges. Mary K. Lawhon, 23, who lists herself as homeless, is facing charges of possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drugs - Schedule 1 or 2 substance. Police officers said they responded to the Royal Inn on Kendall Avenue around 1:48 p.m. Friday. When they arrived Portsmouth Municipal Court Probation officers were in the room with Lawhon.

Police said Lawhon is on probation and when authorities went to her room to pick her up on a warrant, they found she was in possession of 11 Percocet tablets which were not prescribed for her, and six used syringes.

Lawhon was taken to the Scioto County Jail.
