The Portsmouth Police Department and the New Boston Police Department are looking for information on the suspect or suspects involved in the damage of numerous car windows overnight Sunday night.
Officers of the Portsmouth Police Department began receiving calls during the early morning hours Monday morning of windows being shot out. When daylight arrived the call frequency increased as people getting up for work or school discovered their car windows had been shot out as well. Officers on patrol and responding to calls, located other vehicles that had windows damaged as well.
Captain Lynn Brewer of the Portsmouth Police Department said a check with the New Boston Police Department confirmed one report of a vehicle that had suffered damage. He said the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office had not received any reports as of the time of the filing of reports.
Brewer said the windows appeared to have been damaged by a pellet or BB-type weapon, but there are no known suspects at this time. He said the investigation into these incidents is continuing and anyone with information on the suspect or suspects is encouraged to call the Portsmouth Police Department Detective Division at 740-354-1600 or the New Boston Police Department at 740-456-4109. Callers may remain anonymous.
