Nearly 3,300 AEP customers were without power for 90 minutes Monday after a squirrel reportedly interrupted service at a Scioto County power substation.

According to a spokesperson for American Electric Power, a squirrel got onto a piece of equipment at a substation, causing an interruption in service from 10:33 a.m. until 12:03 p.m. Monday. About 3,300 AEP customers in Scioto County were without power during that time.

When asked what the squirrel did to cause the outage, the spokesperson said she did not know the specific details and would be unable to find out during the Labor Day holiday.
