Authorities are looking for a man who escaped from the Star Community Justice Center, at 4578 Gallia Pike in Franklin Furnace, on Friday. According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremy Hay, age 32, of Firebrick Street in Oak Hill, made his escape shortly after a group session.

Steven McKnight, facilities manager, told deputies after a group session, the case manager came inside ahead of Hay. He said after the door was closed, Hay proceeded to climb the fences on the recreation yard. Hay reportedly headed toward U.S. 52, angling northward toward the highway.

The report said deputies went to his mother’s house in Wheelersburg, but he was not there. A search did not turn up the escapee.

Information will be sent to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office for review by a Scioto County grand jury. According to the Jackson County Clerk of Court’s office, Hay had been convicted on two counts of theft in 2008.
