One dead after Pike County auto accident

A head-on crash involving a Wheelersburg man has claimed the life of a Bainbridge, Ohio man. Killed in the crash was Shannon R. Wolfe, 42, of Bainbridge. Patrick F. Burnett, 64, of Wheelersburg, was flown to Grant Hospital by Med Flight helicopter.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 1998 Chevrolet Motorhome, operated by Burnett was eastbound on Ohio 124 in Pike County, while a 1996 Dodge Intrepid, driven by Wolfe, was westbound on the same road around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, when Wolfe’s vehicle went left of center, striking Burnett’s vehicle head on.

Wolfe was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner, and Burnett was flown to the Columbus facility.

Lieutenant V.S. Conley of the Chillicothe Post of the OSHP, said the crash is still under investigation. He said the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Pebble Township Fire Department, Bentown Township Fire Department, Beaver Fire/EMS and Pike County EMS all assisted at the scene.
