Crash on 73 results in injuries

A four-vehicle pileup on Ohio 73 at Mile Post 22, the Coles Park area of Washington Township Monday afternoon resulted in three injuries.

Don Rawlins was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe; Iva Collier was the operator of a Honda CRV; J.B. Gulley, was driving a Dodge Caliber and Carolyn Jones was the operator of an International semi tractor-trailer rig.

According to the report by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Rawlins and Collier were stopped, attempting to turn left, when Collier’s vehicle was struck in the rear by Jones, sending it into Rawlins. One of the cars crossed over into the opposite lane and struck Gulley’s vehicle.

Collier was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center by EMS; Gulley was flown by Air-Evac to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., while a passenger in his car, Nancy Gulley was taken to SOMC by Portsmouth EMS.

Traffic on 73 was tied up for a period of time while workers cleaned up the crash scene.
