Witness follows burglary suspects

Three people were arrested for burglary in Pike County on Tuesday.

According to Pike County Sheriff Richard Henderson, his office responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, on River Road in Waverly. A witness reportedly saw three suspects inside the home, and followed them as they fled the residence. The witness continued to follow at reckless speeds until one of the suspects reportedly discharged a firearm.

Henderson said his office coordinated with Piketon Police and Security Protection Forces at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant who all responded to the area and apprehended the three suspects on Schuster Road near the intersection of Shyville Road.

The suspects were identified as Carl Christian, age 30, of Piketon, Melissa Maynard, 22, of Waverly, and Christina Maynard, 24, of Piketon.

Christian was charged with felonious assault, burglary, and discharge of a firearm near a prohibited premises, and his bond was set at $110,000. Melissa and Christina Maynard were each charged with burglary, and their bonds were set at $40,000 each. All three suspects were taken to the Scioto County Jail for holding.
