Athens Ohio Youth Softball Tournament
The Athens Sandlot softball league will host a girls fast pitch softball tournament for girls ages 8-12. The “Sixth annual Grand Slam Invitational” on July 4 through July 7. The tournaments will be round robin format with all teams guaranteed four games. Entry fee is $300. Contact John Pratt, 740-664-1807 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Portsmouth Area Youth Soccer
Portsmouth youth soccer signups for the fall league will be held at Newberry’s Sporting Goods on July 6, 10 a.m. to noon, July 15, 6-8 p.m., and July 21, 9 a.m. to noon. Registration forms can be picked up or dropped off at the above times, or during regular business hours. Cost is $40 for the first child and $35 for each additional child. Pike County YMCA
The Youth soccer camp will be held July 8, 9 and 10 at the Pike County YMCA. The Waverly High School coaching staff will be putting on the camp. Registration fee is $25. Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt. This camp is for boys and girls grades 3-8.
The first summer adult co-ed volleyball league will be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. All days are tentative depending on the number of teams in the league. Registration will be $200 a team before deadline, which is July 16, and $250 a team after deadline.
The YMCA will also hold its first annual Mud Volleyball Tournament. This event will take place on July 20 and will be held at the Pike County CTC. Pre-registration is currently taking place. Registration will be held on July 20. Cost is $25 per team, minimum of four players, maximum of 8 players.

New Boston Youth Soccer Registration
Children, ages 4-14, interested in playing soccer in the New Boston Youth Soccer League can register Saturday, July 6, from noon to 2 p.m. and Tuesday, July 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the New Boston Little League Park.
Boys coach/pitch all star tournament
Boys, under 9 and 10, coach/pitch all-star tournament will be held July 12-14 at the First National Bank Ballpark in Beaver. Cost to enter the tournament is $225 per team. SOMC Triathlon Clinic
Before the second annual Sprint Triathlon in August, Southern Ohio Medical Center will be hosting a Triathlon Clinic on July 13 from 8-10a.m. SOMC’s Sprint Triathlon is made up of three events: A 200-meter swim, a 10-mile bike course and a 5K run. All three events will be discussed during the clinic, so participants are asked to bring running gear, swim wear, including goggles, and their bicycle. The clinic will also cover injury prevention and nutrition. The Triathlon will take place on August 25. For more information, or to sign up, contact the SOMC Life Center at 740-356-7650.
East High School Football Camp
East High School’s first annual football camp will be held on July 15-16 from 6-8 p.m. at Allard Park.
Summer Fastpitch Classic
The Summer Fastpitch Classic will be held July 26, 27 and 28 at First National Bank Park in Beaver, Ohio, weather permitting. There are six divisions; ladies, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U. There is a $350 entry fee. Clay Golf Scramble
The annual Clay Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Shawnee State Golf Course. The Scramble will cost $240 a team or $60 individually. The Scramble includes 18 holes, cart, food, door prizes and prize money. 2013 RRCA State Championship in Parkersburg, W.Va.
The 2013 News and Sentinel Half Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, and coincides with the Parkersburg Homecoming, which features live music among other events. Trophies and prize money are awarded each year to the top four overall winners in the men’s and women’s divisions of the half marathon. Additionally, prize money is awarded to the top three winners in each age group with a trophy for fourth and fifth place in each age group. Circleville Dog Days 5K
The 12th annual Circleville Dog Days 5K road race, presented by Red Barn, will be held Saturday, August 3 at 9 a.m., beginning and ending at Circleville High School. The event boasts unique “Dog Days” suncatchers, given to the top three in each of 32 total age groups, plus awards to the top three overall male and female finishers. Numerous door prizes also will be awarded, water and splits will be available on the course and refreshments will be available at the finish line. If you are interested in running, print an entry form at circlevillexc.com or register the day of the race from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. There is a $15 preregistration fee ($20 on race day) and at least the first 150 registered will receive a free T-shirt.
