Man wanted for shooting at South Point home

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man they believe to be armed and dangerous, after reportedly shooting at a residence in South Point.

According to the Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless, his office received a call at about 11 p.m. on May 23 reporting shots fired on County Road 407 in South Point. When deputies arrived, they discovered that a residence had been shot several times while the occupants were inside. Bullet casings were recovered from the roadway in front of the home.

The suspect has been identified as Timothy Powell, 42, of South Point. During the investigation, it was discovered that Powell had threatened and reportedly shot at other family members that day and made threats harming other persons. After the shooting, he left the scene riding a red Honda Shadow motorcycle with plate No. 51VSD.

He is described as a white male, five-foot-seven-inches tall, 145 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is believed to have more than one firearm and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Felony warrants for Powell’s arrest were obtained on May 24 through the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office at 740-532-3525 or your local law enforcement.
