When a car and a motorcycle collide, the motorcycle usually takes the worst of it. That’s what happened again around 5:42 p.m. Wednesday. The Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says it is investigating a two-vehicle crash involving two injuries that occurred on U.S. 52 at the intersection with County Road 1 in Lawrence County.

A 2000 Suzuki motorcycle was eastbound on U.S. 52 and a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier was north bound on County Road 1. The Chevrolet attempted to enter the traffic way onto U.S. 52 and failed to yield the right of way, striking the motorcycle. The crash is still under investigation.

The operator of the motorcycle, Michael Hudson, 31, of Huntington, W.Va., suffered an incapacitating injury and was taken by Lawrence County EMS to King’s Daughters Medical Center. A passenger on that motorcycle, Kelly Blake, 35, also of Huntington was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital by Lawrence County EMS suffering incapacitating injury.

Tiffany Halley, 21, of West Liberty, Ky., the operator of the Chevrolet, was not injured.

That road was closed for two hours while the investigation was conducted and debris cleaned up.
