Northwest Local School District Welcomes Community Response
As the close of the 2012-2013 school year approaches, the Northwest Local School District wishes to extend an invitation for citizens of the Northwest community to offer input and/ or feedback regarding local, state and federal programs.
Terri Pennington, Special Programs & Curriculum Coordinator, will conduct a meeting on May 7, 2013 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Northwest Elementary Conference Room concerning the following programs or any other program(s) about which you wish to inquire.

The next regular board meeting will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Northwest High School Media Center.
McKell Middle School
McKell Middle School will be accepting Parent and Teacher nominations the week of April 29 through May 3, 2013, from 8 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. If you are the parent or guardian of a student that will be attending McKell Middle during the 2013-2014 school year you are eligible to be nominated. Elections will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in the school office from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. for parents and guardians. If you have any questions please call the office at 606-932-3221.
Clay Local School District
At its regular meeting held on April 22, the Clay Local Board of Education acted on the following measures:
Approved minutes of the March meeting.
Accepted the financial reports.
Heard reports from principals’ Tony Piguet and Todd Warnock.
Authorized the Superintendent to submit applications for 2013-2014 state and federal programs.
Approved the graduating class of 2013.
Approved a three day early dismissal for seniors.
Employed substitute personnel.
Approved certificated personnel salary adjustments for the 2013-2014 school year.
Employed certificated personnel whose contracts expire in 2013.
Employee support staff personnel whose contracts expire in 2013.
Non-renewed four support staff positions.
Approved an OSBA resolution regarding expansion of vouchers.
Approved facility usage by the Alumni Association.
Approved a contract for lawn care.
Accepted a supplemental position resignation.
Approve the district’s application for waiver days for the purpose of in service training.
The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for May 16 at 6 p.m. in the Board room.
