Portsmouth Police have arrested a fugitive from justice. Benny R. Kilgore, Jr., 30, of 29 Green Drive, Franklin Furnace, is charged with being a fugitive from justice and falsification after being taken into custody around 6:54 p.m. Friday.

A Portsmouth police officer made a traffic stop concerning a speed violation, and Kilgore was a passenger in that vehicle. Officers said when Kilgore was asked to identify himself, he told them his name was Scott Dials, and gave them a fake Social Security number. That number was run through LEADS (Law Enforcement Agency Data System) and nothing came back.

Officers re-approached the vehicle, and handcuffed Kilgore, and again asked him to identify himself. This time, he reportedly told them he was Benny Kilgore, and gave his current Social Security number. Dispatch reported back that Kilgore was wanted on a felony robbery charge from the Greenup County, Ky. Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Larry Pancake of the Greenup County Sheriff’s Office said Kilgore was wanted as the get-away vehicle driver in the robbery of a BP station in South Shore.

Police say Kilgore’s actions hindered, impeded, and obstructed the performance of the officers duty. He was placed in the Scioto County Jail.
