The New Boston School Board voted during its meeting this month to hire Samantha Hamilton as the new district treasurer. Hamilton was the assistant treasurer at New Boston School and she will become the district treasurer in July following the retirement of current treasurer Donna Grimm.
“She’s replacing a legend. Donna is wildly respected throughout the treasurer community. She’s done a fantastic job at New Boston for however many years — 34 years, I think. To be able to come in and work with someone like that, that pretty much prepares you for the position. I think it was a very good decision by the board. We have excellence in that area, and this will keep everything excellent,” said New Boston Superintendent Mike Staggs.
He said Grimm and Hamilton are among the best treasurers with whom he has ever worked.
As Hamilton is promoted, she leaves the position of assistant treasurer vacant. The New Boston School Board is currently accepting applications for that position. Staggs said they weren’t in a rush, and would take their time to find the right person.
“They do have to have a degree in finance, but they also have to have their school treasurer’s certificate,” he said.
Interested parties can submit a resume to Donna M. Grimm, New Boston Local Schools, No. 1 Glenwood Tiger Trail, New Boston, Ohio 45662.
The New Boston School Board meets on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will be April 11.
