Quick work by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of two men in the robbery of US Bank in Wheelersburg on Thursday. Arrested was Todd M. Williams, 33 of Birch Hollow. Williams has been charged with one count of robbery, a felony of the second degree, and was held on a $75,000 bond. Also charged was Paul E. Charles, 40 of 12th Street, Portsmouth. Charles has been charged with probation violation and complicity to robbery, a felony of the second degree.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said detectives have been working on several leads which resulted in Charles being detained with the assistance of Portsmouth Municipal Court Probation Officers on Friday on a probation violation from an apartment on Seventh Street in Portsmouth. It was later determined that Charles was the driver during the bank robbery that occurred the day before.

Detectives had obtained suspect information of the bank robber along with a suspect vehicle, which resulted in a search of several locations to include a rental house located on Washington Boulevard in West Portsmouth. On Sunday, detectives observed the suspect vehicle parked in a driveway located at 183 Birch Hollow in Portsmouth. Detectives along with deputies were able to surround the house and locate and detain Williams without incident. Williams was brought to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and later charged with robbery.

Donini said the investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be presented to the Scioto County grand jury at a later date.

Donini said anyone with any information concerning the robbery should contact detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
