Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said that his office had currently been working a case involving a truck allegedly being stolen from the Gephart Road area.

Detectives relayed the truck description along with a possible suspect location to patrol deputies. Arrested was Rockie Johnson, 47, of Wheelersburg. Johnson has been charged with having a weapon under disability, a felony of the third degree, and receiving stolen property being a firearm, a felony of the fourth degree.

Donini said on March 11 the Porter Township Community Policing Deputy was able to locate the alleged stolen truck in the driveway of 260 Egbert Rd. in Wheelersburg. Detectives and deputies, along with Portsmouth Municipal Court Probation Department, responded to the resident which resulted in a search of the residence due to a probationer using that address.

Donini said as a result of the search, two loaded firearms were located inside the residence. Detectives were able to determine that one of the firearms was reported stolen out of a burglary in Pike County.

According to Donini, it is still an ongoing investigation and more charges could be presented to the Scioto County grand jury at a later date. Johnson was held on a $15,000 bond.

Donini said anyone with any information concerning that theft is being requested to contact detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
