ATHENS — North Adams had a Lee Corso moment Saturday night.

The No. 4 Green Devils scored the first two points of the game against No. 1 Ironton in a Division III Southeast District Semifinal at Ohio University’s Convocation Center. It was the only lead North Adams would have the entire game as the Fighting Tigers scored the final 14 points of the frame and never looked back in an 80-33 win. Ironton will play in next Friday’s final against the winner of the No. 6 Lynchburg-Clay-No. 2 Zane Trace game, which was not completed at press time.

The Fighting Tigers went on to score the final 10 points to close the first half. They had 12 offensive rebounds at the break compared to nine total rebounds for the Green Devils.

“I thought our kids played so hard,” Ironton coach Mark LaFon said. “We had such good chemistry. The kids played well together and shared well.”

Zac Carter led the Fighting Tigers with a game-high 31 points, nine shy of his career high set earlier this year. Trey Fletcher added 17 points and Trevor White came in with 10.

Ironton had 18 steals and 14 assists on the night.

Information from the Ironton Tribune contributed to the report.
