A Chesapeake area woman is facing felony drug charges following a traffic stop around 12:34 Thursday morning. Chelsey L. Barry, 19, is facing a charge of possession of heroin, a felony of the first degree.

Troopers of the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said they stopped a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix on U.S. 23 in Lucasville for a vehicle defect and a moving violation. Troopers said they detected an odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle giving cause for a search.

After questioning the driver, she advised she was concealing contraband on her person. At the Portsmouth Post of the OSHP, troopers said the driver voluntarily forfeited approximately 70 grams of suspected heroin, with a street value of $10,500.

Barry was cited into Portsmouth Municipal Court.
