A few anxious moments involving a death threat has resulted in the arrest of a Scioto County man.
William Maverick Sadler, 21, of 1522 Stoney Run Rd., West Portsmouth, is charged with aggravated menacing after being taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.
In a report Scioto County Sheriff’s deputy Matt Frantz said deputies and troopers were dispatched to 1216 Stoney Run Rd. in reference to a disturbance there. The caller was advising authorities that a male by the name of Maverick Sadler was making threats with a gun and said he would shoot the police when they got there.
Frantz said, while en route to the address, he was advised the suspect had left the scene in a red Chevrolet truck. Frantz said he passed the truck traveling east on U.S. 52. A stop was made. Deputies then responded to the address on Stoney Run Road where deputy Kirk Jackson was already at the scene.
A witness told deputies Anthony Journey and Eutis Stewart went to the residence of Maverick Sadler and Breanna Stewart to confront them about a theft. The witness said, while they were speaking to Breanna Stewart, Sadler exited the residence with a handgun and pointed it at Journey and Eutis Stewart and threatened to kill them both. In a written statement Breanna Stewart advised she also witnessed maverick Sadler with a gun.
Sadler then reportedly followed Journey and Eutis Stewart across the street to the Journey residence, continuing to make threats that he was going to kill them. Frantz, in his report, said, at some point Breanna Stewart got into the truck with Sadler and the two left the scene. The vehicle was stopped a short time later on U.S. 52.
Breanna Stewart escorted the deputies to a residence at 1355 Stoney Run Rd. and there they recovered the firearm, which was to be entered into evidence.
