In April of 2012 the Community Action Organization of Scioto County purchased the Scioto County Welcome Center for $300,000. Since then, the facility has continued to house several organizations - The Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Portsmouth, and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and has continued to be available for rental for special or regular events.

Now, it has become the new home of CAO Bingo, formerly held on Scioto Trail in Portsmouth.

“We are having our bingo operations there on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays,” CAO Executive Director Bill Thacker said.

Emily Cobb of CAO said on Saturdays and Mondays doors will open for bingo at 4:30 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:30 p.m. On Sundays, doors open at noon, and bingo begins at 2 p.m.

“It will still be available for rentals five days a week, Monday through Friday as long as the Monday occupants are out by 2 or 3 o’clock in the afternoon,” Thacker said. “The meeting rooms, the conference rooms are all still available - Monday during daytime hours, and Tuesday through Friday, daytime hours as well as evenings.”

Thacker said anyone wanting to rent the facilities can contact Pam Lewis at 740-354-7541.
