With one week until the start of the 2013 OHSAA Boys State Basketball Tournament, the sixth of seven polls conducted by the Associated Press was released Monday evening.

This week, the Southeast District has one more representative in the polls in the form of the Piketon Redstreaks. This week, Piketon — which claimed another SVC crown over the weekend — is 11th in Division III with 21 points, five points behind 10th place Versailles.

Also in Division III, Ironton is third with 171 points and three first-place votes while SOC II co-leader Oak Hill is ninth with 56 points. Just as it has been all season, defending Division III State Champion Cincinnati Summit Country Day remains atop the polls.

The Redstreaks weren’t the only team from Pike County to receive statewide recognition. For a second-straight week, Eastern is in the “Others Receiving Votes” category in 13th place with 15 points. The Eagles, who hold a half-game lead in the SOC I over Notre Dame, are 27 points behind Toledo Christian for 10th.

After many weeks of being close, SEOAL champion Warren finally cracked the Division II Top 10 poll. This week, the Warriors are 10th with 32 points which is three points clear of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary and 28 points behind ninth-place Franklin.

The final regular season poll will be released next Monday, the same night the boys sectional tournament begins. Along with CSCD, Columbus Northland (Division I), Dayton Thurgood Marshall (Division II) and Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph (Division IV) are ranked first in their respective divisions.
