The Scioto County Right-to-Life organization is preparing to host their third annual March for Life, and program which is set for Saturday, Jan. 26.
Scioto County Right-to-Life President, Pastor Robert Coffey said the march is an important event held to coincide with the national March for Life which is held in Washington D.C each year.
“We do the local march because a lot of people can’t go to Washington, D.C. to participate in the national march. Our goal is to bring that down to a local level to invite, and to include as many local residents as we can,” Coffey said.
Coffey said the marchers will march down to the courthouse, and have prayer on the steps of the courthouse, and will return to the Holy Redeemer Activity Center.
“The program will start at two o’clock, and Dr. Terry Johnson will speak,” Coffey said.
Coffey said in addition to Rep. Johhnson of the 90th District, Joe Uecker, State Senator and member of the Ohio House of Representatives of the 66th District will also be one of the speakers for the program.
Clay High School Choir is also scheduled to render two selections.
“It’s just a way of making our cause more known,” Coffey said.
Denise Hurley serves as the director of the local organization, CRADLE, which provides services to women and young ladies who are pregant, said National Sanctity of Human Life Month is very important.
“To be silent is to be complicit, and sends the wrong message to our children and grandchildren about human life. 50,000,000 innocent children have been killed before they had a chance to take their first breath since the passing of Roe V. Wade in 1973,” Hurley said.
Hurley said that she plans to participate in the march on Jan. 26.
