Charles Hickman, 94
Charles W. Hickman, 94, of Stout, a dedicated Christian, went to meed his Heavenly Father on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013. He was born June 15, 1918, in Lucasville, a son of the late General Douglas Hickman and Sarah McCain Hickman.
He was a member of First Church of God in New Boston; a U.S. Army veteran, was the oldest living retired Portsmouth Police Officer, was a member of Portsmouth Local Pipefitters No. 577, Aurora Masonic Lodge No. 48, F.O.P., Valley of Cininnati Shriners, James Dickey Post 23, American Legion, Black Powder Camping Club, Airstream Camping Club and Scioto 10 Pilots Club.
Charles is survived by three daughters, Judy Karshner of Sciotoville, Connie Martin of Columbus and Patsi Fetch of Smyrna, Ga.; five grandchildren, Danielle Mann, Julie and Michael Martin, Angela and Cindi Fetch; two great grandchildren, Kevin and Brock Martin and special friends, Chuck and Debbie Jewell.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hickman and the mother of his children, Nila Semones and a brother, George Hickman. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at First Church of God in New Boston with Pastor Floyd Smith officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Sunday 5 to 7 p.m. at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON and Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
