A Portsmouth man has been indicted for murder in the beating death of his infant son. Brandon J. Wilson, 23, of 1202 Rosemount Road, was indicted by a Scioto County grand jury in the death of 10-month-old Neylan Wilson, who died on Nov. 20 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office received notification on Nov. 19, from Nationwide Children’s Hospital that they were treating a 10-month-old infant for several life threatening injuries including a skull fracture, which is why the infant was transported to their facility by helicopter from Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Detectives responded to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where they were able to talk to several witnesses along with the medical staff and observe the baby, which resulted in a report being filed. During this investigation detectives learned that the baby was living with his mother and her boyfriend at 1112 Boren Blvd., Apt. A, in Wheelersburg, and on Nov. 19 the mother, Tierra Simeona, called 911 and requested a squad for her baby. Porter Township EMS transported the child to Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth where he was later transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
Testing was performed along with an autopsy that was conducted at the Franklin County Morgue. Donini said a forensic interview was completed on a 3-year-old child that was present in the residence, with the results of that interview being made to detectives on Dec. 3.
Donini said that as a result of the ongoing investigation Wilson was located at his residence on Rosemount Road, in Portsmouth, where he was detained and brought in for questioning. After consulting with the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office the suspect was charged.
The grand jury indicted Wilson for aggravated murder, murder and endangering children.
