The staff at the Ohio River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross would like to thank those of you who have so generously supported the American Red Cross relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Sandy and thanks to those of you who supported the local chapter throughout the year. We are not a government funded agency and rely totally on the communities we serve to help fund our mission.
Even though we have big national disasters to support, your local chapter is still busy here at home, preventing, preparing for and responding to local emergencies. Last year your local chapter that supports Scioto and Pike Counties, collected over 3,400 units of blood, taught lifesaving skills courses to more than 500 individuals, provided disaster assistance to more than 300 individuals and delivered more than 70 family emergency messages to local active service members. We also opened overnight shelters and cooling stations at Shawnee State University and Waverly City Schools for those locally affected by the July wind storm.
If you would like to make a donation to your local chapter, please go to our website at redcross.org, call 740-354-3293 or visit us at 1801 Robinson Ave. Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
Thank you for your support and we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a blessed and healthy New Year!
