A West Portsmouth man has been arrested after breaking into a woman’s home and threatening her before stealing her property. Richard Montoya, 36, is charged with one count of burglary, a felony of the second degree.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office has been working on a burglary that occurred on Upper Twin Creek where Montoya is alleged to have came into a residence while the home owner was home. Donini said, after making threats, Montoya allegedly left the residence taking a 42-inch flat screen television.
Donini said detectives were able to identify a possible suspect which resulted in Montoya being picked up for questioning. This case was sent to the Scioto County Grand Jury which resulted in an indictment warrant being filed for burglary.
Montoya was arrested and is being held without bond. He will appear in Common Pleas Court on a later date.
