A high-speed chase with a child in the back seat of the car has resulted in a man being arrested on multiple charges.

At 8 p.m. Sunday, Jeffrey L. Chapple, Jr., 22, of Hilliard, Ohio, was reportedly pulled over by a trooper from the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol for operating a 2011 Nissan with no headlights on U.S. 23.

“Trooper (Christopher) Williams walked up to the car, and as he approached the car, it took off northbound on U.S. 23 at mile post 15,” OSHP Portsmouth Post Commander Lt. Karla Taulbee said. “He took the exit to the A-plant (USEC reservation) and onto their property. We called their security to let them know what was going on. One of their security officers found him parked back on the gravel parking lot. He was taken into custody without an incident.”

It was upon arresting Chapple, troopers discovered a four-year-old child in the back seat and a woman passenger also in the vehicle.

Chapple is facing charges of driving while under suspension; felony fleeing and eluding; child endangerment and driving with no headlights.
